Mrs. Heard is the class teacher and Mrs. Hawkins is the teaching assistant. On Thursday afternoons the class is taught and dismissed by Mrs. Hawkins.
Currently PE lessons take place on Mondays; however, we often have opportunities to work with coaches on other days. Please ensure that your child has appropriate named PE kit and footwear in school at all times.
Each half-term a creative learning ‘jigsaw’ homework is sent home. This is linked to our current topics and learning. Completed homework should be returned to school on Mondays; we then share and celebrate this work in class during the week.
Please help your child with regular reading and multiplication tables practise. In Year 2 we focus on x2, x5 and x10 tables and the linked division facts. Times tables tests take place on Fridays. We are also revising number bonds and learning to tell the time on an analogue clock (o’clock and half-past).
Spelling is taught through a programme called ‘Spelling Bee’. Each week the children investigate different word families and learn how to spell words from the termly word list, including common exception words. Spelling tests take place on Thursdays. We also have some special ‘focus’ words; ask your child about Mrs Heard’s ambitious word of the week / Mrs Hawkins’ tricky word of the week!
Please do not hesitate to come and speak to Mrs. Heard if you have any questions about homework or you would like to discuss anything.
If your child is awarded a certificate or trophy out of school, do send them in – we enjoy sharing and celebrating their achievements in class!
