Welcome to our Class Page
Mrs. Tunn and Mrs. Grainger are the class teachers and Mrs. Phillips is the teaching assistant. On a Wednesday afternoon, the class will be taught and dismissed by Mrs Montgomery. During Mrs Tunn’s maternity leave, Mrs Conway will be teaching Year 4 on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
P.E lessons are currently taught on Wednesdays. Children should bring their kit into school on a Monday morning and leave it in school until Friday. It is important that the children have the correct P.E kit. At times during the autumn and spring terms, P.E. lessons may take place outdoors therefore could you add an old tracksuit and outdoor trainers to their kits.
Homework linked to the learning that has been done in school is set for the children to complete over a number of weeks. There is no set day for homework to be handed in so that each piece can be celebrated throughout the week.
As well as the homework, children are expected to read regularly at home and they are given opportunities each day to change their book. If the children successfully read 5 times a week for the entire term, they will be rewarded with a unique, personalised St Thomas More ‘Reading Wristband’. If they achieve this, they will automatically be entered into a prize draw at the end of term.
Children are also expected to practise their timetables which will be tested every Friday. Spellings will also be tested on Fridays.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and see me.

Times tables test
Times tables test – as you know year 4 are completing a National Multiplication Tables check test at the end of this year. please find below links to some websites that may help your child to become more fluent in their tables.
Science – we are investigating sound this term. The children were very busy creating the best sized hearing trumpet; looking at animal ears and their shape; spelling out their names in sign language; and of course creating cup and string telephones. Ask them to tell you about how sound travels and how we can hear sounds under water!!!
In Science this term we have been looking at solids, liquids and gases and have been looking in detail at the water Cycle. We made it rain indoors – try it at home, the children will be able to tell you how!!!!
