As part of our continued support to children eligible for FSM (Free School Meals) we will allocate Pupil Premium monies of £17,235 to ensuring that the gap between these children and their peers is narrowed. Additional support for pupils will enable them to develop through further individual and small group work.
The school will continue to ensure that these children have access to additional support and funding to enable them to take part in extra-curricular activities and trips.
In 2018/19 the provision will continue to be focused on the areas mentioned. We will respond to any new needs which are identified through data analysis and Pupil Progress Meetings.
Parents/carers are encouraged to enquire by contacting the School Business Manager, in confidence, if they wish to be informed of how to apply for Free School Meals or if they have concerns about any funding needs for their child.
In the previous academic year the Pupil Premium continued to be used in a wide variety of ways to support the children in the school eligible for FSM (free school meals) and those under the Ever 6 measure. The Pupil Premium is used to narrow any gaps that could occur between those children eligible for FSM and their peers. 11 children were supported through Pupil Premium funding in 2017/18 (6% of the school roll).
Continuing Professional Development provides all staff with the opportunity to develop new skills and approaches to learning to support the engagement of all pupils, including vulnerable groups; impact is measured and actions discussed throughout the year at Pupil Progress meetings and Achievement Team Meetings. The focus has been Mathematics – with mastery as the focus, English with the continuing development of the FANTASTICS, Spelling and phonics. In addition to this, throughout the school, children have access to extra resources, funding for extra-curricular activities, enhanced curriculum activities, school trips and residential experiences to enrich their education and ensure inclusion.
Additional pastoral support and nurture is provided through alternative arrangements such as hugs and bugs club and identified nurture sessions with our Pastoral team. Our Attendance Team includes the Head teacher, Deputy Head teacher, SENCo and Office manager, who track attendance and put measures in place to support families with attendance difficulties and monitor progress towards targets.
