DT is embedded throughout the curriculum. Children are given opportunities to utilise their knowledge and skills in meaningful contexts. They are able to design, make and evaluate their learning. By teaching our children technical knowledge and vocabulary pupils are able to effectively articulate their ideas and reason why they have made certain choices to their peers and adults. Our learners are encouraged to take risks and select appropriate tools and techniques whilst developing their imaginative thinking in order to design and make functional projects that solve real life problems in a range of contexts.

Throughout DT projects learners draw on a range of subject knowledge from other areas of the curriculum such as maths, science, computing and art which teaches children how their learning connects. Through DT our children develop an understanding of today’s made world and give consideration to the role of designers in history and the modern world, thus, equipping them with the skills to be future designers.
