Welcome to Year 5!
Miss Barker is the class teacher and Mrs Hawkins is the teaching assistant. We are so excited about the year ahead and have lots of fun planned for the children.
This term, the children will be learning about Shakespeare, particularly 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
Please find below some information about our class.
Homework:
Reading - We ask that your child reads daily at least 5 times a week at home to support their fluency, understanding and inference skills. The children will be able to change their book-band book on a Tuesday and a Friday. The children need to write a comment each time they read and a parent's signature is required.
Times Tables - Please help your child to keep their multiplication tables skills sharp with regular practise. All tables, including the linked division facts, should be known and recalled quickly. The children will be tested regularly on these at school. The children have accounts for 'Times Table Rockstars' that they can access at home.
CGP Books - The children are given particular pages in their maths and comprehension books on a Thursday, to be completed and marked by the following Thursday. The pages given will link directly to their learning in class.
Creative Homework - This term, as part of our Shakespear topic, the children are asked to create a shoebox scene from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
